Dad Of The Month!
Herman J. Johnson
Where do you live? On the beautiful Lacamas lake in Camas, Washington.
What is your profession? “Miracle Worker” that’s the moniker my wife bestowed to me. I do several things but they can be neatly categorized as Mind, Body and Soul coaching. Globally I coach Track and Field at Concordia University. I do Sports Hypnosis. Clinical Hypnosis: for Smoking Cessation, Weight Loss and Pain Control. I am a practitioner of EFT (emotional freedom Technique). And lastly, a Trigger Point Therapist.
What are your hobbies/interests? Bear with me on this one.
Hobbies: Coaching Track. My interest: “Healing” physically, emotionally and spiritually. In every culture and in every medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished through moving energy. So, therefore my interest is deeply immersed in Quantum Physics.

What do you drive? I drive a FREE, 1994 Ford Explorer that has 287k miles with no foreseeable issues.
What are you reading? “New Chakra Healing” Activate Your 32 Energy Centers by Cyndi Dale.
What music are you listening to? Motown and Classical Rock.
What's the last movie you saw? Get Smart – I would give it 4 out of 5. It was light hearted and nothing serious. It didn’t tax the mind.
How long have you been married? Karen and I have been happily married for 3 years.
Kids names and ages? Felicia, 28 – Rachel, 25 – Lindsey, 23 – Andrea, 22 – and Sean, 19.
Describe your favorite family vacation? We love taking our yearly vacations in California.

Your thoughts on being a Dad?
If we were “perfect” we would be Gods. I am no God. So therefore if I could do it over again I would be just like every other Dad (or at least for myself). I wish I could have spent more time with them instead of being a “worker”. I just wanted to give them the best of everything not the high end best but better than what a little “African American” who barely survived in a small town in Alabama during the 50’s could do.
How do you juggle family and work?
At this time in life I don’t have to do much juggling as you can see they have their own parental responsibilities but we do get in some quality time.
What's your favorite thing to do with your kids? Celebrate their birthdays together. We enjoy that because no matter what the issue is, we all huddle together heart and soul. It’s like family “table talk”.
What advice would you give to new or soon-to-be dads? Listen to your significant other; she’s the one cooperating with Mother Nature. If you need to get up in the middle of the night to fetch something, don’t think just do. Share the experience as much as possible, always be in the moment. Read to your miracle, talk to your miracle and share your miracle. Because soon they will be exercising their own minds and you will become an idiot.
