Thanksgiving Day

Dadsworld wants to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you are spending time with the ones you love, and appreciating the togetherness of this day.

As a Dad, being with my family is fundamental to my happy and fulfilling life.

Every year I make an effort to appreciate the 2 major Holidays (Christmas and Thanksgiving) for what the deeper meanings are, and not get caught up in the consumerism of the main stream.  I realize that we have entire industries built around consumer spending, and that nearly 40% of many stores revenue comes from the time frame of Thanksgiving to Christmas.  Even our educational system was created to make good consumers out of us, to make the wealthy even wealthier.  Always take some time to think about the true meaning of why these days were made into Holidays in the first place.

As Jim Rohn says in his talks, it shouldn’t be too hard to be thankful these days.  Living in a free, rich country with opportunities and a lively marketplace leaves us a lot to be thankful for.  Even though we may struggle personally with different issues: finances, careers, relationships, etc… that doesn’t mean we don’t have a lot of good things to be thankful for.  Take some time to put things into perspective, and go to work on the most important things in your life.  What’s REALLY important to you?  Don’t worry so much about what pop-culture says SHOULD be important to you.

I am so thankful for what I have, for my family and my friends.  We have many blessings and talents that we need to recognize and pass on.  Here’s to wishing you and yours a fantastic day spent with each other (physically or in thought.)  Happy Thanksgiving!
