We have so many exciting changes coming to the site! Many of them are subtle, but others are obvious. You will see the “Featured Dad” as a regular feature on the homepage. It gets a little more in depth than the “Dad of the Month” interview, and goes into the biography of the Dad in greater detail.

We just launched our twitter page (actually, I created it in October of 2007, but didn’t do anything with it until last month).

Our facebook page has a similar story. I created it over 2 years ago, but just last December really started adding content to it. Facebook is an amazing tool. It certainly can be a time-waster, but it also can be a powerful marketing tool, research tool and a great way to stay in touch with friends, family and clients. If facebook were a counrty, it would be #4 in total population! Incredible number of users.

We are working on improving our log-in page, we are going to be adding an “outdoor recreation” column on the articles page, we are working toward a corporate sponsorship for the site and we are going to be adding some guest bloggers.

I have received requests from Dads who write colums or blogs to write for Dadsworld, so you will start to see some of their posts soon. If you are a Dad, or know one who would like to write the occasional post for our blog, be sure to contact me. info@dadsworld.com is the email address.

We are also adding more parenting statistics to the site, as this seems to be a very popular feature.

I am excited about our first “Featured Dad” interview, which is coming soon. The Dad is an ultra-successful entrepreneur who has some outstanding ideas. Look for that interview to go up this week.

Thanks for supporting involved Dads, and be sure to tell your friends and family about our website. Have a great day!

I get a lot of inquiries about fun products and good books pertaining to Dads. I always recommend our Dadsworld.com website as we have a lot of great products available for purchase right from the site. Our main page has several categories, with many products in each one (and more are being added regularly). You can find categories for Books, Electronics, Toys and Games, Gifts for Mom, Gifts for Dad, Sports and Outdoor gear, Watches and Jewelry, Autos, and Dad Gear. Be sure to check out our great list of items, and purchase them right off the site! Not to mention our specific Dadsworld.com store with T-shirts and stickers available in a variety of sizes and styles.

Every product we feature on our website has an affiliate relationship with us, (except the Autos) so you are helping to support our site and involved Dads with every purchase.

We are winding down the month of April. We have a new Dad of the Month interview about to go up. You will be impressed with this great Dad! We are also nearing another T-shirt drawing, so be sure you are signed up as a Dadsworld.com member for your chance to win!

More articles are on the way, 15 new, informative pieces on subjects like: staying in shape over 40, losing weight, family time, fathers and daughters, reading, potty training, phone etiquette, effective parenting and helping your ADHD child get to sleep easier.

Thanks for your support, and be sure to help us spread the word about our great website and our promotion of involved Dads!

Mothers Day is May 11. Be sure to check out our “Gifts for Mom” category on the home page for some great gift ideas. We are going to be adding a few more in the next week, so check back. When you buy any product through Dadsworld.com, you are helping to support the site. That includes our great shirts, books, electronics, toys, outdoor gear, stickers, etc. So feel free to shop often at Dadsworld.com!

I read a technical tip recently in Popular Science magazine about syncing between different email accounts. Many of us have this problem. You have Microsoft Outlook at work, a different email program at home, and a smartphone in your pocket, all with independent inboxes and outboxes. Ideally, all of your devices should communicate, so that when you receive or reply to a message on one, it’s reflected on all of them. But they don’t do that. There is a simple solution. Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), and it allows for 2-way communication between your email accounts and your PC’s. That means whatever program or computer you use to access your email, you’ll always see the same thing. There are several ways to set it up, but the easiest is to use Gmail, Google’s free email service, which recently added IMAP support. Gmail can pull messages from most existing email accounts, so you can just route everything to one inbox. Just open a new account at mail.google.com, and enable the IMAP setting. You can even create a custom “from” address so that outbound mail will appear to come from any domain you choose (e.g., john@johndoe.com), rather than from your Gmail address. It’s also FREE!
