Stand Proud, Stand Tall, Stand Together
18 March 2009 in UncategorizedIt seems that in most media outlets lately, all we hear about is bad news. Economic crisis, financial market corruption, government gone wild, trashy celebrities, moral and ethical decay.
Well, I know for a fact that there are a lot of strong, value-driven and principle-centered Americans out there who are standing together and working to get our country out of this mess. Our men and women of the armed forces, your local police and fire professionals, and the hard working small business owners all over this land are standing strong.
These are the types of people who get it done, no matter what. Always have, and always will. They are largely ignored by the media because of their rock-solid steadiness. The media and pop-culture likes shock value, weird and wacky stories. Showcasing the steadfast, loyal, hardworking people of character doesn’t fit their bill as it doesn’t sell well. But don’t think for one minute that they are not there. Working to get this country back in order.
I had the chance to spend some time with a few recent Iraq veterans recently, and they opitimize what I’m talking about. Soft-spoken, hard-working and determined to do the right thing describes them pretty well. They don’t stand out in society, and largely go ignored until they are needed or called upon. But these people of Character that I speak of are an essential element of our society.
Strong families are the bricks of a civilized society, and the hard-working and honest people of character are the mortar. We are strong, and you will be happy to know that there are a lot of good people doing the right thing, right now.
It’s time to tune-out the mainstream media, and stand together. We will save our economy, together. We will bring the value of the dollar back up, manufacture the products we need right here, and take back our confidence by storm.
I like the idea behind the movement started by the talk show host, Glenn Beck. His website www.theglennbeck912project.com is a good one, and the 9 Principles on his list are essential American Principles. Self-responsibility, justice, rights, honesty, God, Government’s role, etc. are all important. I encourage you to take a look at his website. Be sure to read the 9 Principles and the 12 Values. The idea is that we all came together the day after the terrorist attacks, came together as Americans. There was no bickering about Democrats and Republicans, race didn’t matter. On 9/12/01 we were ALL Americans standing together. We will recapture that unity.
Diversity is overrated. UNITY is what we need to be focusing on. Yes, we are a diverse country with many cultures, races, customs, traditions and beliefs. But, we are all AMERICANS, and we all want what’s best for each other for the good of us all. It’s time to Unite, and stand together as Americans. Start looking for what we have in-common, not belabor our differences.
