New Dad of the Month Interview is up!
3 March 2009 in UncategorizedCongratulations to Drew Coleman, the www.dadsworld.com Dad of the Month for March 2009!
Drew is a very busy guy these days, running his successful Real Estate business while his family continues to grow. Drew and his wife Marisa just had their second child, Elijah. With children of very similar ages myself, I appreciated his interview and insights.
One of the things that Drew said my wife and I talk about often, and consider of paramount importance as well… that’s modeling the correct (desireable) behavior for our children. That means showing them how to treat each other as a husband and wife, as well as how to raise a child. They will learn more by what they see us do than by what we tell them, a lesson MANY parents out there need to understand and do something about. Talking about doing things won’t do. SHOWING your children how a man acts, how a man treats a woman, treats himself and treats his children is vital. Far too many parents are so busy these days, that they don’t get to spend much time role modeling for their kids. What does that really teach the kids? Mom and Dad don’t care about me much, so I am not that important. That leads to all the negative things you will see on our statistics page. I encourage you to take a look at it.
I picked Drew for this month’s interview because he is one of the great Dads who is doing it right. We need more Dads like Drew. I met Drew nearly 5 years ago while we both worked for The Hasson Company, a local (and extremely successful) Real Estate office. When you get the chance to see someone work in a highly competitive field you learn a lot about their character. I like to pay attention and watch, not only how they treat their clients, but the agent on the other side of the transaction as well. As a Realtor myself for many years, I have seen the full range of human character. From people who will blatantly rob others blind for their own personal gain, to rock-solid professionals that don’t bend from what’s right. Drew is a true professional. He cares deeply about fairness in his transactions and operates within a strong moral code.
He also brings those same attributes to his family. Drew represents exactly what www.dadsworld.com is promoting: Involved Dads who love their families and create a positive environment for their children to thrive in. Creating a strong, loving and successful family is the most important thing to be good at as a Dad. That responsibility supercedes job promotions and personal desires. Once you become a Dad, your responsibilities shift to your family. Another good lesson that many “Dads” in the media could learn from Drew.
Please be sure to go to his interview and read what he had to say. Dadsworld is proud to have Drew Coleman as our March 2009 Dad of the Month!
