Life is a gift. Thanks Zig Ziglar for the lesson.

I wanted to share an outstanding story with you about making the most out of each moment.  A friend of mine related a story to me yesterday that really touched me.  In fact, I told this story today in a class I was teaching for my Realtors and it made me cry.

My friend was at a sales training seminar a few years ago that Zig Ziglar was teaching and my friend had his two young sons (5 and 7) with him.  He wanted to introduce them to Zig during the lunch break, and when they found him, Zig was eating at a table with a few other VIP’s.  He tapped Zig on the shoulder and said he wanted to introduce him  to his two young sons.  Many (most) people would have turned and looked over thier shoulder, shaken their hands and said, “nice to meet you boys,” and gone back to their lunch and VIP friends.  But that is not what Zig did.  Zig stood up, turned his chair around 180 degrees so his back was to the table and he was facing the boys, giving them his full attention.  He then said “hello boys,” and began to look them over carefully.  He held the first boys shoulders and gave him a squeeze, looked behind each ear, turned him around and really looked at him good.  He then repeated the process with the other boy, taking a significant amount of time to really look at them from head to toe.  After he finished examining  the second boy he said, “I knew it.  I can spot them everytime.  These boys are winners.”

A couple of years later, after one of the boys lost a football game on his school team, one of the boys on the other team was gloating and calling them “losers.”  The son came up to his dad and said, “I’m not a loser Dad.  Zig Ziglar said I was a winner!”  Talk about a powerful impact.

Take the time, just a few minutes, to make a positive impact on the people  you meet, especially your own family.

Thanks, Zig for such a powerful lesson in life.  You’re fantastic!

  9. Isn’t that amazing – the power of the spoken word – spoken with sincerity that is. Zig Ziglar has so much integrity that even young kids can spot the real thing! Thanks for reminding us the importance of positive words spoken into someone else’s lives.

I never met him but once i wrote a letter to him and never dreamed i would get a letter from him personally. He took the time to read it and reply and that really touched my heart. I want to be like him, we need more people like Zig Ziglar in the world.
