How our Dad of the Month feature works
24 January 2008 in UncategorizedI was emailed a question by a lady asking how she can nominate a Dad for our Dad of the month feature. I told her to tell me a little about the person and get me in contact with them. Right now we have the next several months lined up, but are open for suggestions.
All of the Dad’s we are featuring right now are people I personally know, and feel good about their character and their involvement as a Dad. The feature will probably continue like that for a while, until I start getting submissions from www.dadsworld.com members and we end up going that route.
I met today with our next Dad of the month, scheduled for March, 1 2008. I won’t tell you who he is yet, but I can tell you that we are excited to feature him. He’s been a friend of mine for a few years now, and runs a great company that benefits kids. He has a beautiful wife and 3 amazing kids…more on his family, his company and himself to come.
Our current Dad of the month, Larry Blackmar, is a colleague of mine and a quality, classy man. He is the type of man that people admire for several reasons. 1- He always dresses impeccably and looks like a gentleman. 2- He has a very friendly demeanor and is very credible and knowledgeable. 3- Larry not only looks like a gentleman, but he IS one. He treats others with class and respect, which is becoming a lost art these days. 4- Larry has a sincere and positive personality. We are very happy to feature Larry, and show you a Dad who is doing it right.
That’s one of Dadsworld’s 3 P’s. Our mission is to 1- Promote good Dad ideas and ivolved parents. 2- Provide resources, information, entertainment and a place for Dad’s to go and talk with each other (forum), and 3- Praise those Dad’s that are doing it right.
If we can do all 3 of those things successfully, then we might help change the way Dad’s are portrayed in our media, communities and culture.
The new-breed of Dad, as I call them, are very involved with raising their children, and all the duties that go along with it. Changing diapers, feeding, dressing, putting down to bed and getting up in the morning and from naps are all things these fathers do on a regular basis. Many of the Dad’s I know don’t miss any of their kids functions, games, camps, etc. and the one’s that travel for a living are sure to be there the times they can, and they set aside most of their free time for their kids.
That’s the responsibility of every parent, be there with your kids. To raise children successfully means to be there to guide them, lead by example and be involved in their lives. We owe that to our kids.
www.Dadsworld.com is our starting point. We have a lot of plans and new ideas we want to implement, but it all starts with this website. Thanks for your continued support, and watch as we update and expand the site with new and entertaining features!
