Getting ready for Baby

27 February 2008 in Uncategorized

If you have read the forum posts, you will see one about what to do when you are expecting a baby.  One of the members suggested getting all of the household projects you have been putting off done, before the baby comes.  I thought that was excellent advice, and with my wife 3 months pregnant, I am now in full-on project completion mode.

We have a metal shed in our backyard that started to leak this winter, so we have had to take all the stuff out, and for several weeks it’s been filling the garage, so our mini-van is parked in the driveway.  Not fun.  Also, there are about 20 cedar trees in our backyard, tall skinny ones that are about 20 years old.  They are dying.  All but one of them is completely dead, or turning brown.  So, we are removing those today.  We are keeping the live one.   Unfortunately, the shed I was talking about is in the way.  Well, it depends on how you look at it.  I guess it’s really good fortune as it’s forcing me to take the shed down, so we can remove the dead trees, then I will re-do the rotted floor and re-build the shed.  All of this will be done this week!  Then the van goes back into the garage, and I am DONE with projects for a while.  Well, done if you don’t count my office…..  :)

It really is a load off of your mind to complete the nagging and lingering projects you have been putting off, and having a baby is a great motivator to get things done.  We did the same thing when we had our son, a long list of things that had been undone for years, suddenly got done.    I have my son to thank for that!

Be sure to check out the changes to the site, and read Anthony Newman’s interview.  He is really a great Dad and a good man.  We need more people like him and we need the media to focus more on athletes like him.  The good ones.  :)
