Dad of the month

I am excited to add the Dad of the Month section to our website.  When the site launches in January, we are going to have a section on the home page devoted to the Dad of the Month.  It will be a short 12-15 question interview with various Dads we admire.  I think we need to start recognizing the great job many Dads are doing in raising children.

Nearly all the Dads I personally know are married and take a very active role in their children’s lives, yet when I go to a bookstore or watch televeision or read parenting magazines or newsletters, Dads are hardly ever pictured or mentioned.  I really believe this does an injustice to all the great Dads out there, and it paints an inaccurate picture where the only one raising our children is the mother.

I firmly believe, because of personal experience and statistical data that children need both parents, a mother and a father to have the best chance at becoming healthy, educated and well-adjusted adults.  Yet we are bombarded with images of only women raising our children.  Certainly the mothers role is vital, but no more so than the often taken for-granted role of the father.

Watch for our Dad of the Month feature, starting on www.dadsworld.com in January 2008!
