Alex turned 2 years old today!

We had a nice, low-key Birthday party for our son, Alex this evening.  We had family and a few friends over for a barbeque, presents and cake and ice cream.  Alex was in a good mood, and being the social little boy that he is, he loved having both sets of grandparents over.  He did well with the presents, mostly books, a lego set, a shirt and pair of shorts, a couple of cars, a bubble-maker lawn mower and a Blue and Steve doll (from his favorite show, Blue’s Clue’s).

We played out in the yard after dinner, and spent a lot of time with his new cars and the stomp rocket set that my dad got him a few days ago.  All in all it was a nice 2nd Birthday.  I even read him his new Blue’s Clue’s bedtime story book before putting him to bed.

My wife and I are so happy to have such a fantastic little boy.  We tried for nearly 7 years to get pregnant, and went through a lot of frustration and doubt about it ever happening for us.  We are so thankful to have Alex, as he has changed our lives.  Being a Dad is the most important role I have ever had, and I love it.

We are expecting a little girl next month, so I guess we finally figured out how to conceive a child.  :)   It took us 7 years for the first child and just a few months of trying for the second.  I can only imagine the hectic schedule we will have soon.  But we welcome the change, and look forward to having a daughter.  Alex is going to have a little sister, and our family will be complete.

I know it sounds cliche, but we spent so many years trying for a child, wondering if it would ever happen for us, and now, just 2 years after his birth, we can’t imagine life without him.  What did we used to do with our time???  It’s really tough to remember.  Amazing.
